Facebook announced that it will hire an additional 500 people who will work at the new headquarters in London next year.
European head of Facebook’s Nicola Mendelsohn said the goal is to bring the number of employees from 1000 to 1500 to 2017, with many of the new jobs that are highly skilled engineering jobs.
“The UK remains one of the best places to be a technology company and an important part of the story on Facebook. We arrived in London in 2007, only a few people by the end of next year, we opened a new HQ and plans to hire 1,500 people,” said Mendelsohn.
The new office is under construction in Fitzrovia, central London.
Mendelson said that the UK is the “home of the largest engineering companies based outside the United States.”
She brought an example command in Somerset, which developed Aquila, a solar UAVs which will connect the remote area of the world to the Internet.
London is also where the workplace platform aimed at linking workers in simpler ways, was launched in October 2016.
