If the movie catches your eye on Facebook, you may soon be able to buy tickets without leaving the app. Facebook has partnered with Fandango, to start selling movie tickets directly on the Facebook page of the film. It begins this weekend in the United States only a few titles, including The Magnificent Seven, Storks and Kevin Hart: What Now?.
Facebook gives Fandango a prominent place to sell tickets. When you visit a supported film’s Facebook page you will see a big blue button that says “Buy Tickets” at the top of the screen. Tapping on the mobile phone lets allows you to view nearby theaters and screenings and check out the complete payment process, all the while remaining inside Facebook and via your Facebook account. On the desktop, by clicking on it, you redirected to a Fandango’s website (which is what the current button says “Book Now”).
Fandango goal is to make the purchase of a ticket easier for a younger audience, such as theaters continue to be threat by everything from YouTube on Mobile to Netflix on TV. Facebook is not the only place, Fandango takes place in their attempts to attract customers. They also tried to sell tickets through Snapchat, and it just launched an iMessage app for iOS 10.
